In retrospect it may have been the first proper album from one of the bands in our Orlando scene, but this was a tough album to record in that Orlando did not have that many studios available as options and our singer Ed would rarely show up to studio dates. Because of this I wound up singing some of the songs so as to not waste the money we spent. We also had drummer problems so after the first 2 recordings we borrowed Gerry from the Field Trips, and sadly the engineer even convinced us to use a drum machine at one point as well. He also convinced us to use that stupid Tom Scholz Rockman to record some of the guitar. As musicians this was collectively our first real attempt at recording so we were just going with whatever the guy said, but obviously learned our lesson and never did that again. The jacket photos were taken by my old co-worker at the Northgate movie Theatre Richard McKinney. The concept for the cover was supposed to be a Florida inspired homage to the Ramones first album cover, where instead of the gritty bricks of a building there was a window painting of fish underwater. That said, being that this was the first album cover I had ever designed I did a poor job of it, plus I only had stick on letters and couldn't figure out how to get them behind our heads. All songs written by Noise For The Needy except the obvious cover songs, and Paul Glover wrote the first lyrics to Playing at Being Real that we just expanded upon in addition to writing the lyrics to Good For Me as that song was originally written by The Illbred Youth in 1982/83 which was my first band. - Dino
